Year 5 finished their Viking topic with a real bang as we had a very special workshop on Thursday. We were lucky enough to be taught archery in the safety and comfort of our very own hall. Archery was very important for the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons, not just for hunting but also for when they were at war! This was an opportunity to experience Viking ways first hand. Some children showed natural talent – several children scored bullseyes. Some found it rather tricky to even notch an arrow… but by the end we were racing to see who could hit the target the fastest and most accurately. We all learned a new skill and we all had a great time.
