It is a great honour and privilege for me to be the Head teacher of such a wonderful school. It was obvious to me from the moment I first taught at Cubitt Town Junior School that this was a very special community that had at its heart a deeply caring ethos.
Cubitt Town Junior School is a happy, friendly school situated within the Isle of Dogs. We are committed to providing the best possible learning environment to ensure that the achievement of every single child matches their potential. I am blessed with good quality staff who are dedicated and enthusiastic, and with an incredibly supportive set of governors who give up their time voluntarily to take on the awesome task of managing the school.
As an inclusive school that promotes a set of values that are enduring and seeks not only to achieve excellence intellectually, but also creatively, it is my belief that there is much more to school life than the rigour of school exams. At Cubitt Town Juniors we strive to nurture our students in order that they may become caring, compassionate human beings ready to make a positive contribution to the wider community when they leave our care while challenging them to ensure they achieve their full potential.
We understand that children achieve best when home and school work together. Effective communication and our ‘Open Door Policy’ underpin our strong parent relationship. Together with an outstanding Community House which offers opportunities for parent to receive guidance about the best ways to support children.
Let me start by saying that I am very proud to be the Deputy Head of such a fantastic school, which is populated by a terrific community of children and adults alike. Since being appointed in January 2017, I have been suitably impressed by the work ethic the pupils have, the courteousness they show to each other and visitors as well as their curious nature to learn and find out new and exciting information.
As Ms Bruce says, we have an ‘open door’ policy. Should you wish to speak to me regarding any issues or concerns about your child’s progress and development, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
In my role as Deputy, I am here to ensure your child is safe and happy whilst they are under our care. As a result, one of the areas I lead on is behaviour. Should you, as parents, wish to speak to me regarding any concerns you have please feel free to call the school to arrange an appointment, or you can usually find me in the playground both before and after school.
I look forward to working with your children and alongside you as parents to support the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of your children.
