At Cubitt Town each week we teach 45 minutes of engaging French lessons.
The lessons are very interactive and the main focus is on speaking and pronunciation. Each half term a new topic is introduced. The children learn the vocabulary relevant to that topic and then embed their knowledge through activities such as role-play and learning songs.
We use the interactive board frequently to introduce vocabulary through games and extend the children’s listening abilities by watching short French cartoons and the children also have reading tasks to complete each week. Grammar is taught during most lessons and ties in with the topic for that term.
As well as learning the French language, the pupils also learn about the French lifestyle and culture. Assessment in French is continuous throughout the year.
